I am really happy to say that we will be re-starting orchestra rehearsals on Thursday May 20 in St Peter's - unless we see anything from the Department of Media Culture and Sport to tell us we can't. But lets assume we can re-start and take it from there.
We will be playing Beethoven 5th and finalising plans for our summer repertoire and Matt will explain more about that on Thursday. We want everybody back playing together comfortably and while we had hoped to tackle movement 2 of Saint-Saens 3rd Symphony we know that this is not without its technical challenges so we need to discuss this with you all.
For now we are assuming that the COVID procedures we had in place last year will apply this year as set out here: SSO-Procedures-for-COVID-Secure-rehearsals-11-May-2022.pdf So that means,
- wearing a face covering while in St Peter's at all times unless you are blowing a wind instrument or are unable to wear a face covering for any length of time
- distancing of 1m, or 2m if not wearing a face covering
- frequent hand sanitising
We will have the same layout as before as below although we may well tweak the percussion/trumpets/double bass positions.
Summer concert will be..... good question. We will go through the options on this with everyone at either the first or second rehearsal so we can decide as a group what we want to do.
So that just leaves - welcome back to everyone.
How exciting is this!
