Rehearsals - maybe starting mid-May
We are hoping that we can all start rehearsing in St Peter's as from Thursday May 20 although if there are any changes to the current lockdown roadmap this date might change. Plus it all depends on the Department of Culture, Media and Sport who issue guidance on the performing arts - currently they are not permitting amateur music groups to even rehearse outside which does not seem very logical. Hopefully though we can all start back again. But we may need to socially distance and wear face coverings as before which is a shame but maybe this won't be for too long. `
When will the next concert be?
Well clearly if we don't start rehearsing until mid May then we won't have a full concert at the end of June but one thought was that we continue rehearsing into July, numbers permitting, and possibly look at a taster event towards the end of July. Matt is looking through possible music for this which is likely to be a small selection of works that might include a movement say from Beethoven 5 and from the Saint Saens 3rd Symphony plus some other short works. We are still looking to play the whole of the Saint Saens 3rd Symphony in a concert in the not too distant future.
November concert on Sunday 28th November 2021 will be at Lavenham church as St Peter's will be closed for its renovation works. Term starts on 9 September and ends with the concert on 28 November. We are hoping to be back rehearsing in Woodhall School this autumn but this may change. As may everything else.
October workshop
We have booked Sunday 3rd October at Nayland Village Hall for our October workshop. More details to follow but orchestra members - please put this date in your diary.
