At the tender age of 80 and after playing trumpet with us for more than 14 years and being chairman for over 12 years, David Ellis, has decided to stand down. David might not have been a wizard on the keyboard but he was one of those people who always seemed to be able get on with everyone. He could defuse a situation from 20 paces and always had wise and sensible words of advice. Plus he had a fund of great stories so our trustee committee meetings were something we looked forward to. He will be greatly missed and everyone on the committee will miss him.
We hope he and his wife, Margaret, can continue to come to our concerts and enjoy them from, as it were, the other side. Enjoy your retirement - very well deserved.
