We just had the hottest concert ever in Sudbury Arts Centre, and it wasn't just our playing that was hot..... Sunday 29 June will go down in history, concert wise, as the thermometers hit the high 70s - or mid to upper 20s depending on your age. Despite the heat our soloist and the orchestra gave a really great performance and the audience was really appreciative. Huge thanks to our stewards who once again manned the box office and thanks also to Hunnaballs our sponsors whose continuing support of the orchestra is really really valued.
The concert had a very definite Scottish theme, from the soloist's tarton skirt onwards. We started with Bruch's Scottish Fantasy with our wonderful young violin soloist, Eliza Nagle, and we followed that with Mendelssohn's Third Symphony, his Scotttish symphony, so called from Mendelssohn's visit to Scotland some 13 years ealier - but it is all the better for the wait..
Our young soloist Eliza played exceptinally well in quite difficult circumstances, as it was so hot in Sudbury Arets Centre and you could hear what an accomplished performer she is, with concerts already in the Wigmore Hall. Soon she will be performing at the proms wtih Sinfonia Smith Square.
Were you there? Please leave a cmment below, we'd love to hear from you.
