The Sudbury Symphony Orchestra has its New Year 2020 rehearsal workshop on Sunday 2nd February when we will be tackling Tchaikovsky's 4th Symphony.
Tchaikovsky's 4th Symphony has a wonderful brass opening and lovely tunes sprinkled throughout the work. This is a really good opportunity for amateur musicians to experience playing music that they will rarely have played before. These workshops are fun, playing music without the stress of needing to reach concert standard. We normally play through the piece at the end of the day but we purposefully do not invite an audience – this is a day for our enjoyment of playing music as an orchestra. Our conductor for the day is Matt Andrews and our leader will be Steve Calder.
The workshop is just for the day in St Peter's Sudbury from 10 am until about 4:45 pm. We provide light refreshments during the day, and organise a group lunch in The Codfather nearby, which many players say is the highlight of the day!.
If you are a string player and would like to come to this event then please contact Hilary on events@sudburysymphonyorchestra.com or call her on 07802 793768. If you want to turn up on the day that is fine but we do suggest you make contact first. We have nearly got a full complement of wind and brass players for this event but please do make contact if you are interested in coming to the event.
