The Sudbury Symphony Orchestra has its 2018 New Year rehearsal workshop on 4th February when we will be tackling Bruckner’s 4th Symphony. This symphony, called "Romantic", is one of Bruckner's most popular works. It was written in 1874 but was extensively reworked and not premiered until 1881. The symphony is about an hour long and is not often pperformed by amateur orchestras so this is a great opportunity for players to experience the symphony . The workshop is just for the day in St Peters Sudbury from 10 am until about 5 pm with Matt Andrews as our conductor and Steve Calder as our leader. These workshops are great fun, playing music without the stress of needing to reach concert standard. We do normally play through the piece at the end of the day but we purposefully do not invite an audience – this is a day for our enjoyment of playing music as an orchestra.
There is no charge to guest players for this workshop event. We provide light refreshments during the day and we also organise a group lunch in the Codfather restaurant for those that would like to join us - you will though need to pay for this. The Codfather restaurant is just 30 seconds walk from the church so it is very convenient and also very good. If you would prefer to bring your own lunch that is absolutely fine.
