Eliza Nagle is a British violinist based in London from Leigh-on-Sea, Essex. As a soloist, Eliza has been awarded scholarships to study and perform in France, Italy, Israel and the USA, taking masterclasses with renowned violinists Vadim Gluzman, György Pauk, Qian Zhou and Lewis Caplan. At home, she has performed in venues such as the Royal Albert Hall’s Elgar Room, St. James Piccadilly and Wigmore Hall. Eliza received scholarships from the Royal College of Music and Southend Choral Charity Trust Bursary throughout her education.

An experienced and devoted orchestral player, she is a current Fellow of Sinfonia Smith Square. Throughout the 2024–25 season she will perform with the Sinfonia across the United Kingdom whilst their home residence is based at St John’s, Smith Square, and St John’s, Waterloo. Sinfonia Smith Square will be on tour to Anghiari and Lake Como throughout August. Eliza was invited to lead and to be the soloist with Sinfonia Smith Square in November 2024 performing Stravinsky’s PuIcinella with Roger Benedict and Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherazade with Lee Reynolds in February 2025. During the summer of 2024 she made three appearances at the BBC Proms, working with conductors Sakari Oramo and Kwamé Ryan, and performed at the Helsinki Music Festival. Eliza is delighted that Sinfonia Smith Square will be playing at the BBC proms this 2025 season!

Eliza is a committed chamber musician. In 2021, she formed the Regency Duo with guitarist Declan Hickey, with whom she has performed extensively across the UK. In 2023, they were made Young Artists of the International Guitar Foundation, performing at IGF festivals in London and Bath throughout the 2023–24 season, and receiving guidance from guitarists Sean Shibe and David Russell. Recent highlights include performances at Kings Place and St James’s, Piccadilly. Passionate about contemporary music, they have worked closely with composers Stephen Goss, Effy Efthymiou and Declan Molloy. Last year, Regency Duo were invited to record Goss’s American Pastoral suite with Zip Tie Studio in Edinburgh.

An alumna of the Purcell School for Young Musicians, Eliza has studied for the past eight years with Ani Schnarch at the Royal College of Music. There, she won prizes and scholarships as a postgraduate (2022-2024), undergraduate (2018-2022), and student of their Junior Department (2010-2018). Eliza holds a First Class, Bachelor of Music (Hons) and a Master of Performance with Distinction.

Eliza is now a devoted teacher herself, joining the faculty of the New Virtuosi International Violin Mastercourse in 2023. She has conducted outreach work across London, Essex and the Southwest of England. Eliza plays on a unnamed Italian violin from the 19th Century. The violin used to belong and be played by virtuoso, Lydia Mordkovitch, a pupil of David Oistrakh.
