Our next concert - Sunday 29 March in Sudbury Arts Centre Autumn 2025 concert - a sell out in St Gregory's Last workshop - Sunday 19 October in Sudbury Arts Centre

NEXT CONCERT: Sunday 29th March 2026

6 pm in Sudbury Arts Centre, Sudbury

with young soloists on violin, clarinet and accordion

Concert Details

Our next concert on 29 March will be in Sudbury Arts Centre and is themed around film music with exciting young stars as our soloists, Isabella Patrick on violin and Jasper Rebel on clarinet and all too very briefly Robert Badea on accordion.  We start with Gershwin's Promenade Walking the Dog from the 1937 film Shall We Dance, we then have (but not necessarily in this order) two great violin solos, the first from the wonderful Morricone's Cinema Paradiso (listen to it here) and the second is the theme song by John Williams for the 1993 film Schindler's List (listen to it here).  We end the first half with John William's really uplifting clarinet solo portraying the main character Viktor Navorsky (and so it is called Viktor's Tale) from the 2004 film Terminal by Stephen Spielberg. This is when we get the accordion joining in - epic.

And to round off the evening we just thought we would slip in a work you might not know, Lars Eric Larsson's Third Symphony - while this work is not film related Larsson wrote a fair amount of film music (and radio music and TV music) so we think it qualifies for the concert on those grounds.   And it qualifies anyway as it is a really interesting work - check it out here.  We played the symphony in a workshop and we definitely gave it the thumbs up and we hope you do too.
