Philippa studied at the Royal College of Music, during which time she led both the RCM Chamber Orchestra and the Young Musicians’ Symphony Orchestra. She subsequently spent three years with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra before returning to London to freelance with orchestras such as the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the English Chamber Orchestra and the London Mozart Players. Her solo performances have included Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Mendelssohn, Bruch, Bach, Mozart and Vivaldi concerti, Vaughan Williams’ Lark Ascending, Chausson’s Poeme and Brahms’ Concerto for Violin and Cello.
Philippa continues to enjoy a wide variety of work and leads a number of ensembles and orchestra such as the Kings Chamber Orchestra, City of Cambridge Symphony Orchestra, the Cornerstone Chamber Orchestra in Milton Keynes and the Essex and Colchester Symphony Orchestras. Her solo performances in 2018 include Chausson’s Poème, Mozart Concerto in A major, a recital in Ipswich, and Richard Strauss’s epic leader’s solo part in Ein Heldenleben.
She balances this all with a busy teaching and coaching practice, including working with Essex Youth Orchestra.
Having collaborated with Matt in a number of different roles, Philippa is delighted to join with him and Sudbury Symphony Orchestra as the soloist for this concert.
