This will be a glorious and riotous concert - we start slowly and somewhat solemnly with the "Open Prairie" introduction to the Billy the Kid ballet suite by Aaron Copland but then have a lot of fun over his life, capture and finally his death untll returning to the Prairie theme. We will also add in a couple of his very jolly dances from his Rodeo ballet.
Having firmly established the American theme for the evening we start the second half of the concert with Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue with our soloist Jill Morton. But watch out for the greatest clarinet opening solo you will ever hear. However much you might know this music it never fails to entertain. Our brass and percussion sections are certainly happy bunnies with this programming.
Finally we end with Marquez Danzon number 2 - which has some of the catchiest tunes you will ever get from an orchestra and full percussion - and it needs a lot of percussion. We challenge you not to be dancing in the aisles - it is INFECTIOUS music.
So - please do mark the date - 30 March 2025 in Lavenham Church. Start time probably 6 or 6:30 depending on church activities etc on the day. Tickets will be available from mid February.
